I wish you success with your billboards!

I spent some time yesterday with some older women (late sixties, early seventies) and the look of shock and horror on their faces when I mentioned I was supporting RFK, Jr. was something to behold. They all listen to NPR, are unfamiliar with podcasts, and I am guessing have never heard of Substack. Not only are outlets like NPR and MSNBC telling them what the "truth" is, but they are reinforcing that anyone who disbelieves that "truth" is dangerous and/or a conspiracy theorist.

I'm unsure why some of my colleagues seem to be worried about getting people to trust the "experts" and mainstream media sources again-- from what I can tell at least 80% of the public, if not more, believes everything the MSM feeds them and are terrified of alternative sources.

Encountering this same phenomenon in allegedly "freethinking" sources and spaces-- which often are just "anti-woke" and nothing more-- is especially disappointing.

I guess I think that, like in The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell, if we can just get the right people, i.e. the trendsetters, to awaken then they will swing the pendulum back and people will follow. The good news is that RFK has apparently won the under 35 vote, so there is some rebellion going on there. Unless the powers that be are able to tramp down on us to remove all free speech online, as they want to, I think truth will emerge and the tide with change... eventually. I'm excited for the billboards too! They are slow moving (as we aren't a group with a 100K budget, we have to queue up) but I am excited to see what they produce. Thanks for engaging with us, S Anderson!

Had to copyedit-- "wish" you success.

I hope the same - that the tide will turn (although I agree it will be slow)-- and fear the same regarding the attempts at removing free speech.

I wrote a short piece a while back about the tide possibly turning on vaccines someday--https://hxlibraries.substack.com/p/hippie-food-for-thought/comments
