Modern day book burning; independent journalists sound alarm bells

Here at DWYT, we believe censorship and the suppression of inconvenient information to be one of the greatest political and social threats of our time. And while we all understand what cancel culture is, many don’t understand how prevalent it is and what forms it’s taking. Let’s review…

The biggest bias in the mainstream news is what’s not being reported.

Individuals and groups who speak against the narrative are frequently deleted from social media platforms along with all their material/posts/information (which is swiftly labeled mis- or dis-information) when they become too big. And Big Tech’s erasing and suppression game extends to “search results.”

To illustrate, we’ll use low hanging fruit. Try searching “vaccine side effects” or “are vaccines safe” and notice the first page results. While you personally may agree with all these government approved sources, are these really the top hits? Are there really no alternative viewpoints about vaccine safety? (Because we know there are.)

It’s not just the big folks either. Regular people may not get their entire social media accounts erased, but posts can be deleted or hidden for just an opinion. But unless you’re posting the “offensive” material, how would you know?

While social media and Big Tech are doing their cleansing, the Legacy Press, aka mainstream media (MSM), has become an oligopoly of a few media and PR giants, which are becoming more and more corporate and politically controlled. What the Legacy Press ignores and Big Tech deletes, that is our main focus at Do What You’re Told.

Below are just a few of examples of how censorship is playing out today. But first, be sure to subscribe to our twice weekly newsletter, so we can fill in the missing pieces…

What if what’s NOT being reported is really what you need to know?

US & UK military contractors created sweeping plan for global censorship in 2018 in reaction to Brexit & Trump

“Many people insist that governments aren’t involved in censorship, but they are. Instagram: Dr. Jordan Peterson’s punishment has 1984 vibes

Doctor ordered to undergo political “re-eduction” by Canadian licensing body.

Increasingly we’re finding that it isn’t HR departments per se, but external professional bodies that give the policing of this out-of-office behaviour the momentum that it otherwise might not have.

The Free Press writes an article on Dr. Peterson too

It was not enough for the College to declare his comments offensive. It had to go one step further and imply that there was something about him that was unwell. By referring Peterson to a therapist for daring to speak his mind, the College of Psychologists of Ontario has pathologized dissent. It has made political disagreement into an illness.

Google whistleblower on how Google censors the internet

Zach Vorhies claims he was programming Google’s AI for their agenda. Vorhies explains:

AI is at the heart of the future internet—determining what content is shown, how facts are weighed, and which voices should be suppressed. What Google is doing, he explains, is limiting the information the AI system is exposed to, so that its breadth of information is limited to biased sources. This is programming the system with its own political biases, which can undermine the basic freedoms of online speech.

Journalist Whitney Webb with Gareth Icke

Can speech itself be violence or even terrorism? Webb, an investigative journalist and author of One Nation Under Blackmail (2022) explores the danger of criminalizing dissent. Webb chats with Gareth Icke, son of well known “conspiracy theorist” David Icke, who at the end of 2022 was banned from visiting most European countries due to what he might say. Webb and Icke discuss how mind control and speech intertwine:

In order to control human behavior, you have to control how they think. And a lot of that is controlling what speech they are exposed to, and are not exposed to.

Dave Chappelle nails it on Saturday Night Live

Legendary comedian Dave Chappelle’s opening monologue on SNL at the end of 2022 had an ominous warning: censorship is dangerous. He concluded his message, which was about Ye, aka Kanye West, among other things with:

It should not be this scary to talk… about anything. Thank you for the support. I hope they don’t take anything away from me… whoever they are.
